The Food Pantry has immediate needs for delivery drivers and Food Bank pick-up drivers.

  • Our pantry helpers keep us afloat! This dynamic position rises to the occasion of whatever needs to be done. Pantry helpers can expect to stock shelves, answer questions from customers, break down food items into smaller portions, run small errands, keep the pantry clean, organize our store room, pack delivery and pick-up orders, and enforce our food safety protocols. We have two pantry helper shifts every day we're open, early morning from 9am-11am, and late morning from 11am-12:15pm.

  • Our delivery program ensures that community members who have severe health complications and/or no access to transportation can still receive an adequate amount of healthy food. Our delivery drivers arrive at the food pantry between 9:30am-11:00am, sometimes help pack deliveries, and then take them to their destination in their own car. The boxes can be a little heavy, so delivery drivers must be able to lift up to 30 pounds. ***We are currently in need of Delivery Drivers***

  • Looking for a workout? We get big deliveries of food twice a week, and we often need help bringing that food into the pantry. Unloaders show up when we have a delivery, help unload, bring the food in, get it organized, and then they leave! Many of our volunteers like to be unloaders and delivery drivers as they compliment each other well.

  • Our main food supplier, the Vermont Food Bank, provides us with food every Tuesday and Thursday! We send one of our Food Bank Pick-up Drivers over to their warehouse in Barre, and they get their truck or SUV loaded up, and then they drive it back to the food pantry where our unloaders wait to help them unload their vehicle. Our Food Bank Pick-up Drivers often help the Food Bank staff load up their vehicle, so drivers must be comfortable doing some lifting. Our deliveries range from 300-1000 lbs of food. We've found that a medium sized SUV, a large SUV, or a pick-up Truck works the best. ***We are currently in need of Food Bank Pick-up Drivers***

  • Our Fresh Rescue program rescues perfectly good food from grocery stores and other retail outlets that is bound for the trash, and brings it back to the food pantry! Our Fresh Rescue Drivers are active every day of the week that we're open, and drop off the food during our open hours. We currently work with the Montpelier Shaw's, Berlin Shaw's, Berlin Dollar General, Freihoffers, Cumberland Farms, Price Chopper, and the South Burlington Trader Joes. Many stores will provide assistance carrying boxes of food out to your car if you ask. This volunteer position requires the use of your own car - any size will do.
